Prenatal Chiropractic Care
Pregnancy is one of the most important times to be under chiropractic care.
Did you know that chiropractic care during pregnancy could possibly decrease labor time by 6-8 hours and that moms under regular care have a lower rate of cesarean sections?
During pregnancy, the body is going through many structural and hormonal changes which can put mom and baby under a lot of stress.
Keeping the spine and pelvis well aligned and moving properly will make it more comfortable for both mom and baby throughout the pregnancy and during the delivery, decrease stress, and improve nervous system function.
Dr. Lisa is certified in the Webster Chiropractic Technique, the only technique developed specifically for pregnant women.
Prenatal Webster Technique
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic technique used most frequently with pregnant women. It involves analysis of the spine and pelvis and a gentle adjustment of the sacrum. The intent is to improve the functioning of the nervous system so that the entire body can function better. An aligned and balanced pelvis reduces tension on the ligaments and muscles that attach to it. This is especially important in pregnancy because when the pelvis is misaligned during this time, it can cause uneven pulling on these ligaments and muscles which may cause intrauterine restriction and affect the baby’s ability to get into the proper position for birth.
